JOHN BUCKNER



JOHN BUCKNER, son of Thomas and Jane Buckner, was baptised 2 February 1631 at St. Mary's, London, England and died 1695. He married in 1661 to DEBORAH FERRER. John and Deborah were in Virginia by 1682. All of thier children are believed to be born in London.

RICHARD BUCKNER, "of Essex COunty", born 1662. He married Elizabeth Cooke. His will proved 14 March 1733 in Caroline County, Virginia..
JOHN BUCKNER, "of Gloucester County", died by 1733. He married Ann Ballard.
ELIZABETH BUCKNER. She married James Williams.
THOMAS BUCKNER.
WILLIAM BUCKNER "of York County", died 1716. He married Catharine Ballard. His will proved 1 May 1716 in Yorktown. Thier issue: William died 1729, John died 1748 and Elizabeth married Drury Stith.



John Buckner, immigrant, member of Petsworth Parish, Gloucester 1671. Member House of Burgesses 1683. Clerk of Gloucester. Owned land in Gloucester and Rappohannock Counties.

Thomas Buckner "of Oxford" bap 20 February 1590 St. Aldgate's and buried 6 May 1645 at St. Mary's. He married Jane, buried 19 July 1650 at St. Mary's. They had issue, all baptised at St. Mary's:

Elizabeth Buckner died 19 June 1624.
Thomas Buckner 16 August 1628.
Lawrence Buckner 29 October 1634.
Phillip Buckner 19 March 1639.

Nicholas Farrar (or Ferrers), ancestor, was educated at Cambridge, took the B.A. degree 1610. Travelled in the Princess' Elizabeth's Suite 1613, emigrated to Virginia 1619.
Since Nicholas Ferrar and Richard Ferris were both issued from the House of Ferrars, descended from Sir Henri Ferris, who came over with William the Conqueror, it seems more than probable that Richard Ferris "of Charles" was 5th child of Nicholas Ferres and Mary Wodenorth, brother of Nicholas the emigrant, whose name, Ferres, was soon spelled Farrar, while Richards name was spelled Ferris, both a corruption of Ferrers or Ferriers.

Nicholas Farrar born 1546 issued from Yorkshire Ferrars and nearly allied to Robert Ferrar, Bishop of St. David's, who suffered mayrterdom in 1555. Nicholas was a distinguished member of the Virginia Company. He married Mary Wodenorth of on old Cheshire family. Thier issue:
Susannah Farrar who married Thomas Collett.

William Farrar. He was in Virginia by 1621 and died before 1637 but after 1633. His issue:

Willliam Farrar "of Henrico", whom married 1) a daughter of Mr. Baugh and 2) Mary, widow of William Lygon. Their issue:

William Ferres, who died 1248. He married Agnes, sister of Earl of Chester. They had issue:
William Ferres, who died 1254. He married 1) Sybilla Marshall 2) Margaret de Quincy. William had issue:
Robert VII, Earl of Derby. He married 1)Marie, neice of Henry III 2) Eleanor, daughter of Ralph III, Lord of Bassett of Drayton.

Phillip Buckner married Elizabeth Sadler 15 July 1667 St James Parish, Clerkenwell.
