This rock formation stands just inside the entrance of the break in the North Mountain called Brocks Gap. It is very striking in its' stature with the contrast of the light colored stone against the dark green of the hillside. Although it stands probably 100 feet in heigth, it seems to measure anywhere no more than 5 feet in thickness. Brocks Gap was noted for its importance in the many minerals that were mined there.

When we look at Cornelius and Daniel, we have to look at them as farmers and men of the land. We know Cornelius paid many pounds of tobacco in fines in court - he must have gotten them somewhere. From what we can tell of the legal discription of the properties, this picture of the field that lies between the road and the river to the right must have been the 400 acres he sold to Jacob Trumbo.
